- The Fox Theatre
Located in Detroit, the Fox Theatre opened in the fall of 1928. At the time, this was the second-largest theater in the entire world. Designed by Charles Howard Crane and featuring red marble columns, this incredible building is now on the list of National Historic Landmarks and the National Register of Historic places.
- Paramount Theatre
Completed in 1931, the Paramount Theatre in Oakland, California is an excellent example of Art Deco design. Sadly, this theater suffered from 30 years of decline and neglect until it was purchased by the Oakland Symphony in 1972.
Now a National Historic Landmark and on the National Register of Historic Places, there are concerts, shows, and of course the Oakland Symphony performances regularly held here.
- Radio City Music Hall
It would be hard to talk about performing arts theaters in the United States without talking about Radio City Music Hall in NYC. Probably the most iconic center for performing arts in the whole country, Radio City Music Hall was first developed as a part of Rockefeller Center.
Another Art Deco style performing arts center, RCMH has the largest stage curtain in the world and is the largest indoor theater in the world.
- The Betty Jayne Brimmer Center for the Performing Arts
When making a list of stunning performing arts theaters in the U.S., it’s easy to only focus on the old classics. However, there are countless amazing centers at performing arts colleges and other institutions across the country. For that reason, we’d like to highlight the Betty Jayne Brimmer Center for the Performing Arts.
Just opened in 2019, this performing arts center is located in the old public library building in Peoria Heights, Illinois. The developer of this center also plans to open a specialty grocery store and hotel in the Heights. This theater hosts a variety of different musical acts and lectures, including the Peoria Symphony Orchestra, chamber music, and local musicians.

- Kleinhans Music Hall
Equipped with both extraordinary acoustics and structural beauty, Kleinhans Music Hall in Buffalo, New York is a truly impressive place. Since it opened in 1940, this space has been called one of the most acoustically perfect music halls in the entire world.
